The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It is a time when people eat zongzi, drink realgar wine, and race dragon boats. This year, I had an unforgettable experience during the festival.
Early in the morning, I went to the riverside to watch the dragon boat race with my family. The colorful boats were decorated with dragon heads and tails, and the paddlers were dressed in bright uniforms. The air was filled with the sound of the drums and the cheers of the spectators. It was a spectacular sight to behold!
After the race, my family and I went back home to make zongzi. We soaked the glutinous rice and wrapped it in bamboo leaves with different fillings, such as pork, egg, and mushroom. It was my first time to make zongzi, and I found it quite challenging, but also fun. When we finished, we steamed them and opened them up to see the delicious filling. Yum!
Later in the evening, we went to a nearby park to fly kites. There were many families there, and the sky was filled with kites of different sizes and shapes. I felt like a child again as I watched my kite soar high into the sky. We also enjoyed the traditional snack realgar wine, which has a sweet aroma and is said to ward off evil spirits.
The Dragon Boat Festival is not only a time to celebrate Chinese culture, but also a symbol of unity and teamwork. I was glad to participate in the festival with my family and friends, and I look forward to it every year.
